For over thirty years, Floriane and Eloi Dürrbach have lived the Trevallon adventure together, very step of the way. He works in the vineyards and the cellars, with Floriane is at his side on the estate. They first met while Eloi was on a viticulture course in the Beaujolais region, at Château des Labourons which belonged to Floriane's parents. "I don't interfere at all in the vinification process but I do reassure Eloi when he has any doubts. He is incredibly hard on some vintages. I have my feet firmly on the ground even though I have a very Bohemian side. Eloi is an artist. That's what attracted me to him."
"We complement each other really well," Floriane Dürrbach likes to say. "I have handled sales and marketing for many years. I can remember back when I used to take our old car and travel from one restaurant to the other to take orders, with the kids in a Moses basket on the back seat. I was persistent and Eloi's enthusiasm kept me going."
"During the first few years, it was a bit like entering unknown territory. Our reputation spread by word-of-mouth. We were very lucky. But quality was always our guiding principle. From the outset, we wanted to make good wine in this fascinating region that we love so much. Even today, we are still not interested in quantity, and so can focus all our attention on quality. When it isn't any good, we don't make wine, as was the case in 2002."
Floriane still deals with her private clientele, by appointment, and buyers and importers. Such is life at Trevallon!
