Nestled in the heart of the Alpilles, between Saint-Étienne-du-Grès and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Domaine de Trévallon is the result of a family history shaped by passion, creativity, and respect for nature.

The history of Trévallon
Vignobles de Trévallon

The story of Trévallon begins with the meeting of an artist couple: Jacqueline de la Baume and René Dürrbach.

In the 1950s, Jacqueline, a talented tapestry weaver, was noticed by Picasso and entrusted by the artist with reproducing several of his works. Her tapestries, crafted with extraordinary precision, are recognised worldwide.

René Dürrbach was a painter and sculptor. His career was marked by close collaborations with major figures of modern art such as Fernand Léger, Albert Gleizes, and Robert Delaunay.

In search of a haven conducive to their creativity, Jacqueline and René acquired in 1960 a still-wild estate they instantly fell in love with: Trévallon.

This place became a space for creation and inspiration, where nature and art engaged in a harmonious dialogue. Together, they raised their three children—Glorvina, Eloi, and Baltasar—and passed on to them their love of art and philosophy, their simplicity, and their deep respect for nature.

The adventure of the vineyard truly began in 1973, when Eloi Dürrbach, initially drawn to architecture, planted the estate’s first vines in its stony soil. Each grape variety was selected with care, and the philosophy was clear: to embrace a form of viticulture that respected the balance of the Alpilles terroir.

Equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah

Nonconformist at heart, he chose an unprecedented blend for the region, going against local tradition: cabernet sauvignon and syrah in equal proportions.

This bold choice forged the unique identity of Trévallon’s wine. The early years were challenging, but the gamble paid off: these cuvées, unlike any others, intrigued and captivated enthusiasts. The vineyard made a name for itself, one that soon travelled internationally.

Each vintage carries a label drawn by René Dürrbach, reinforcing the continuity between the family’s artistic heritage and the work carried out in the vineyard.

This artisanal, human-centred approach, combined with deep respect for the living world, allowed the estate to build its reputation and remain true to its values: authenticity, high standards, and transmission.

After the passing of Eloi Dürrbach in 2021, his daughter Ostiane took over with determination, supported by her brother Antoine and her sister Isoline, who both remain closely attached to the family estate.

Passionate about nature and the Trévallon terroir, she is committed to preserving the estate’s soul, the meticulous care of the vines, and the production of a wine with a truly distinctive personality.

History continues to be written, vintage after vintage.
